Romstar was elevated into the Vendor Development Program (VDP) by PETRONAS in 2006 for the provision of intellgent pigging services in Malaysia. High resolution Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) tools are used to record and measure signals caused by pipewall imperfections. The MFL tools can detect, locate, and assess sizes of general corrosion defects, pitting corrosion, transverse cracks, girth weld defects, pipeline design element, etc.

The high resolution MFL inspection tool is designed to provide the accurate information on pipeline condition and integrity related features. Our MFL tool is robust and reliable to withstand sour gas, carbon dioxide, ammonia, high pressure, high temperature and other hostile operating conditions. Low friction capabilities also make our MFL ideal for natural gas and other high-velocity pipelines. This operating flexibility translates into higher first-run success rates, lower costs in running survey tools and less downtime for pipeline.

For special applications such as heavy wall thickness or circumferential cracking the TFI vehicle can be used. These tools apply the most wide spread method of magnetic inspection based on MFL technique. This approach proved to be excellent for standard inspection requirements; and detection capabilities of such equipment cover major part of known pipeline defects .
